Waiting for my train to arrive at Montparnasse train station, I'm seated on one of the many benches and perch myself on the highest stair of the station. Through the glass windows, I can see the Montparnasse Tower directly across, and the daylight gradually fading away, leaving only a few office lights shining from the tower.

The station is bustling with people as usual; some are rushing because they're late - it seems like people are always running of time in Paris. Some appear more cheerful; they must be happy to be leaving the city for holidays, I guess. Here, the station is like an anthill; it’s like if one train prepares to depart, two more arrive. The crowd never stops coming.

The station is noisy, sounds echo, especially the noise of luggage wheels on the platform floor. There's a constant buzz of conversation, making it impossible for me to focus on any one.
